LUCIE LEE FHEA, MA(Res), PgDipE, BA (Hons)

Lucie Lee

It all began when I was eight years old. I remembered listening on an old fashioned gramophone to a well know song sung by a famous Czech artist. I so wanted to dance and to show all my friends and family what I could do. I produced and performed quite a challenging routine and I was very pleased that finally, my talent and passion for dance had been recognised.

At nine I began ballet classes, however shortly after, my parents could not afford any more lessons so they had to stop, but my dream did not.

At the age of thirteen I opened my first dance school with a help of local council officers in Moravske Budejovice. I choreographed dance routines for freestyle dance competitions. My group won several times and were invited to perform each year at the Czech Ball Seasons at various local venues.

My dream continued when I came to England. I became a member of Fusion Dance Company and performed my first dance solo called ‘Mother’. This was part of ‘Bubbling’, a project that I did in 2003.

I then became member of number youth dance companies in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. I performed at local festivals as well as at the West End at Her Majesty Theatre (Star EFX production 2006). I took several evening classes with Rambert Dance Company, attended The Place contemporary dance classes and attended several workshops with Cando Co Dance Company, Wayne McGregor, Mathew Bourne, Rafael Bonachela to name few.

I studied BA Hons Performing Arts – Dance Performance Degree at De Montfort University (based at Bedford Campus) and continued with postgraduate studies and achieved Masters by Research in Dance and Digital Media in 2013 at University of Bedfordshire. I am fully qualified teacher and hold Pedagogic Diploma in Lifelong Learning at University of Huddersfield, and gained HEA Fellowship (2016).

I have 12 years professional experience dancing, performing and teaching as well as 3 years of project managing and organising events, projects such as Big Dance, Dance Festivals and run a community dance group call Justify Move Dance Academy in Holme Valley and North Kirklees area (2005-present). I have also 8 years experiences of working and performing with integrated dance companies, and 2 years of working and performing with young people and/or adults with learning difficulties as part of Cando Co Youth Dance Company (2005-2008).

I always knew that my passion and drive for dance would make my dream come true. Now you have an opportunity to grow with my history and make your dreams come true.

Lucie is currently lecturing at University Centre Doncaster on a BA Hons Dance Practice programme, and is part time BA Hons Dance lecturer pool at University of Lincoln, and Associate Lecturer at UCLAN, Preston.
